It cannot be denied that embroidery is having a huge moment right now when it comes to textile arts. From fashion and home decor to art, everyone is showing appreciation for this beautiful embellishment. We are no exception! Embroidery has the ability to make an otherwise drab piece look vibrant and eye-catching. It's also very versatile. When we were doing our research, we came across embroidered examples that ranged from classic floral motifs to more minimalist, contemporary designs. There are some truly innovative artists out there who are really redefining the way we look at embroidery - case in point, Emma Mattson, who creates incredibly realistic works that emulate moss and vegetation. Yes, embroidery is so much more than dainty flowers and tea towels! Scroll on to see our favorite examples of embroidery this season, as well as DIY ideas that we can't wait to make! Happy stitching everyone!

DIYS We Love
A touch of embroidery is such a simple way to add extra flare to this wardrobe staple. If you don't feel like embroidering the jeans yourself, you can always use pre-made embroidered appliques. Still, we love the creative freedom of stitching the designs ourselves. Wouldn't a trail of amber-hued leaves or harvest fruit be such a cute motif for autumn?!
Things You'll Need
- Jeans
- Embroidery Needle or Hand Sewing Needle (depending on whether you embroider the designs yourself or use patches)
- Embroidery Thread or Embroidered Fabric/Patches
- Matching Thread (as similar to the colour of your jeans as possible)

With a little yarn, some mesh, and free time, you can whip yourself up a stunning work of art that doesn't break the bank. Tip: Create a bunch of these wall hangings in different colour schemes and hang them around the house, or, group them all together and create an unexpected gallery wall.
Things You'll Need
- Plastic Mesh (size 7)
- Darning Needle
- Worsted Yarn (size 4 is recommended)
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Tape
- Picture Frame
