There is nothing better than sitting down after a long day at work, and crafting. Autumn is the perfect season for crafting too, because as the weather gets cold and rainy, there is plenty of time to get cozy and create. Crafting is also a great way to keep the kids entertained indoors while encouraging them to be creative and use their imaginations. Luckily for you, we've dug up a few fun and easy crafts that are totally kid-friendly, easy to clean up after, and that will result in festive finished pieces that embody all of the best aspects of fall.
What would fall be without some sort of turkey-themed project or decor motif? This quick little project can be completed in no time and results in a cute little friend that will appeal to grown-ups and children alike (it can be used as a decor piece for adults or as a stuffed animal for kids). This is also a great starter project for parents who are looking to teach their kids how to sew!

Quite possibly the quickest fall craft project ever, all that is needed are a pile of leaves (the thicker and waxier the leaves the better, as they need to be durable enough to withstand a hole puncher without crumbling), some colourful yarn, and a hole puncher. This is a fun project for teachers and daycare workers who want to take advantage of a beautiful autumn day, without having to think too hard about coming up with a craft idea. Once all of the leaves are finished, they can be glued to a piece of canvas and framed, strung together and hung up, or simply scattered in a basket and used as a very festive fall centerpiece.
Things You'll Need
- Yarn
- Scissors
- Leaves (thick, sturdy leave that will not break when hole punched)
- Masking Tape
- Hole Puncher
- Stapler
Inspired by the traditional Halloween candy, creating this project is almost as fun as eating the stuff! All that is needed to make this project is an assortment of yellow, orange, and white buttons, a bit of burlap (you can use another fabric, but the burlap has a rustic feel that just screams "autumn"), paint, and glue. The end result is a work of art that looks totally playful and festive. This is also a craft that could be customized depending on the season - perhaps a snowman during the winter and a tulip during the spring!
P.S. Because of the hot glue that is needed to make this project, this may be a craft that is better suited for older kids.

With this too-cute-for-words owl case, tangled headphones just became a thing of the past! Wool felt works best for this project (although you can use any kind of felt that you choose) and results in a more durable finished product. The kids will love sitting down to create these adorable little cases, which are as functional as they are cute.

Okay, okay. So doughnuts are traditionally associated with fall, but there is something about cool, crisp, sweater weather that makes the pairing of a hot cup of coffee with a sugary doughnut extra delicious. These easy-to-make felt donuts will give you your sweet-fix, sans all the calories and sugar. These tiny little doughnuts are beyond adorable and are an instant hit with the kids. Once finished, glue them onto a zipper pull, a headband or bobby pin, or create a cluster and sew them onto a market bag. The size could also be increased and they could be made into toy doughnuts for when the little ones want to play bakery. The possibilities are endless.
Things You'll Need
- 2 small pieces of felt
- Embroidery Floss
- Embroidery Needle
- Thread
- Fiberfill or batting
- Hot Glue gun
