The Best End Stitches for Hand Sewing
Whether you’re repairing a garment or completing an ambitious sewing project, your row of hand stitching needs to last. You don’t want that jacket button to fall off again or the stuffing to start oozing out of your embroidered cushion. To secure a line of stitches you simply need to use an effective end stitch which is…
· Strong
· Neat
· Discrete
· Simple to execute
Most people have their own methods for finishing a line of stitching which essentially involves tying a knot. Maybe you create a loop in your last stitch by stopping short of pulling all of the thread through the fabric, and then you pass the needle through the loop and pull tight - certainly an obvious and simple method. But there are more options available that will give you that extra strong and neat finish.
Find out more in this detailed guide to ending a stitch which gives step-by-step instructions on four of the best methods.
